Our film follows the challenges and successes of our project, while outlining an intergenerational framework we developed alongside students, and teacher Allison Sebastian. The film (co-produced by RSO Media) garnered international attention and led to us presenting to staff, students and administrators in Finland.

Inspired by Truth and Reconciliation Call to Action 63 iii Building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect, this project was also a response to the rise in anxiety and depression in Canadian youth and isolation of senior citizens. We wondered what would happen if we brought them together and attempted to bridge the gap?
Lessons Learned: Bridging the Gap is a short film that follows a 3-month pilot project connecting Markham seniors and youth, through a variety of tools and experiences, while endeavouring to participate in Truth & Reconciliation.
